Inspired by their travels to Greece, where they saw how there is a rich tourist offer for those who choose to visit the holy places, in addition to the monasteries. So the owners of CUIB decided to create such an offer in the village of Căpriana, well known for the Căpriana Monastery, where until recently there was not much to do outside of visiting the monastery and the forest in the area.
CUIB is a guesthouse that appeared a year ago, right next to the Căpriana Monastery and is a courtyard where we find a restaurant with traditional food, a guesthouse with 5 rooms, a sauna that is still under construction and a garden where greens and vegetables are grown for the needs of the restaurant. There is also a terrace on the CUIB grounds where in summer you can admire the view of the monastery.
CUIB’s cuisine is mainly cooked by housewives from the village of Căpriana, elderly women who have found a stable job here and can share their recipes inherited from their mothers and grandmothers.
In the menu we will find pies, mămăligă, various preserves, compote made of horns and quince, various pickles. And if you’ve never tasted “coraslă”, it’s waiting for you on the menu at CUIB.
The guesthouse, under a grant from USAID Moldova for the development of rural tourism, has even been equipped with a machine to produce artisanal liquor. The plum liquor at CUIB is a must for those who visit this place.
