The cod liver and cheese snack is another craving of mine from the 90s, when food shortages were a reality. Knowing how much we loved it, my mother made it for us even on ordinary days for breakfast. You can substitute any other canned fish for the cod.
Tip the cod into a bowl and smash it with a fork.
Add cow cheese (a type of ricotta cheese) and crushed garlic.
Blend everything together. If it seems too dry, add some oil from the can.
Sprinkle fresh herbs over and serve on toast.

Feel free to experiment with this recipe by substituting the cod liver with any other canned fish of your choice. You can also adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less garlic and herbs.
